OWF News

The Wittnebel's Tavern has arrived at Old World Wisconsin!
This is the first historic building to be brought to OWW in 25 years. The Wittnebel's Tavern was built in 1906, and continued to operate as a tavern after the end of Prohibition until 1987. In May, the tavern was transported in three sections from its original location in Old Ashipunn, WI to Old World Wisconsin. Over the next several months, it will be placed on its foundation at OWW and carefully restored to its 1934 appearance. This tavern, along with the new brewing experience building, will enhance future programming at OWW. Additionally, an outdoor beer garden will be built and this will create a comfortable space for guests to relax and enjoy drinks and food while discussing their memorable day at Old World Wisconsin.

The brew house and tavern are the 1st and 2nd phases of a multi-year project to create a new Welcome Experience at Old World Wisconsin. Old World Foundation is partnering with the Wisconsin Historical Society/Wisconsin Historical Foundation, and Museum of Beer and Brewing to raise funds for this transformative project. We will be communicating project updates on this page and in our monthly e-newsletter. Subscribe to our monthly newsletter to get current information.

To complete this unforgettable Welcome Experience, Old World Wisconsin needs you now! To make a gift or for more info, contact Gwen Griffin, Executive Director, Old World Foundation at (262) 594-2922 or email ggriffin@friendsoww.org .

The Old World Foundation office is moving! New Office, Same Committment to Old World Wisconsin!
Thanks to a donation of office space by Associated Bank, Old World Foundation is moving our office. Our physical office will be located in Burlington, but we are able to meet with Friends and supporters via Zoom, at Old World Wisconsin, or at a location that is most convenient for you. This move will give us the opportunity to increase our ability to fund more projects and programs at Old World Wisconsin. It will also give us the opportunity to connect with additional people and bring more awareness of this dynamic historic attraction.

Please use our new mailing address: P.O. Box 347, Elkhorn, WI 53121.
